Meeting a Thai girl while staying in Chiang Mai

Perhaps you have reached an age, which makes the whole procedure of meeting a pretty younger lady almost a mission impossible. You might be surprised as I have met plenty of older dudes who did meet that very charming, attractive and young girl and some even married one. Thai girls seem not to be that picky and often value honesty, faithfulness, and kindness much more than being a young and handsome dude.

But before meeting that ideal woman in Chiang Mai, why should it be in Thailand? Perhaps it is the people’s radiation of mellowness. It is rather difficult not to get interested and fascinated by the Thais who usually seem to be kind, helpful, welcoming and smiling a lot. And the so chilled-out “please do not get too serious about life” approach, which is largely influenced by their Buddhist believes, is truly compelling.
Anyway, Chiang Mai’s society is like a world in itself, so do expect to be culturally amazed and it is recommended to let go for a while of your usual “limited logical Western thinking” and replace it with an open mind ready to deal with continuous seemingly weird and illogical behaviour. You might experience Thailand as a weird other planet. However, you should realise that when visiting a foreign nation, its population sees you as the culturally different foreigner, who came from a faraway country.
Even you will encounter many differences, strange customs and misunderstandings, the many pleasures that you’ll experience as well are simply fascinating and unique. Sure, now and than Chiang Mai can be a crazy city. But amazingly, the entire city also seems to hang together very well. The proof for this statement can be found in the pudding. After eight years I’ve adjusted myself as much as possible to the Thai way of life. As a result, today I even feel a little bit awkward as soon as I have to step into the rushing Western society again and when meeting first time visiting Western travellers over here. Why could be the cause for feeling like that?
Perhaps it is because in general I have been become very familiar with the rules of correct Thai social behaviour, in which politeness, patience, generosity, respect, having fun, eating together, and avoiding conflict are the main things to do. If you try this as a Westerner you’ll soon notice that the Thais, who highly value your efforts of adjustment, are suddenly much more interested in getting to know you compared with the way they chatted with you before.
Another reason is most likely that I truly enjoy their tasty and spicy cuisine and not being scared of eating, the culinary not adjusted to the West, local dishes. And yes! Although I’m happily married, the gentle and often very pretty Thai girls still contribute to the quality of living in Chiang Mai. The last time I went back to my home country, it took me only four or five days to become slightly homesick.
